Town Considering Transferring Rodeo Arena
Parker Arizona, June 13, 2011: The Parks and Recreation Committee heard a proposal to transfer the Rodeo Arena at Western Park to the County Fair Grounds. The purpose of the presentation was to obtain feedback from the Committee as to their interest in relocating the Rodeo Arena.
Town of Parker staff informed the committee that a grant application had been submitted to the Arizona Diamondbacks organization to build a certified baseball field. It is proposed that the planned ball field be located at Western Park. The Rodeo Arena would need to be relocated to make room for the ball field should the Town be awarded construction monies. The La Paz County Fair Association has expressed a desire to receive Rodeo Arena equipment.
Members of the Parks and Recreation Committee spoke favorably of moving the Rodeo Arena to the County Fair Grounds. It was noted that an organized rodeo had not occurred in at least the last couple of years. The Town Council will be the next to hear the proposal to move the Rodeo Arena to the County Fair Grounds Tuesday, June 21, 2011. All desiring to make comment are invited to attend the regular Council Meeting. |
