MEETINGS
Planning & Zoning Commission - No meeting held this month.
Board of Adjustments.
4/15/2009 – Jesse Maldonado – Docket BOA 02-2009
APN 311-29-037 – Adjustments to property front setback from 20’ to 3’ and to south side setback from 5’ to 4’ to construct a new garage were approved.
Town Council.
- 4/8/2009 Special Meeting. No items pertaining to Community Development were discussed.
- 4/16/2009 Work Session and Special Meeting.
- 4/21/2009 Regular Meeting.
- Budget work session was held.
- A second reading of Ordinance No 01-2009 regarding a rezone for APN 311-13-042A from R-1-7 (Medium Density Residential) to L-1 (Light Industrial) was approved.
- Adoption of Resolution 05-2009 supporting the establishment of a County wide broadband initiative, including possible application to the USDA for an RBEG grant was passed.
Building Department Update
- New Applications for building permits – 10 issued. A total valuation of this months building permits is $479,794.55 with total permit fees of $906.95.
- Field inspections performed – 37 building inspections, 5 zoning investigations, 2 business license inspections and 2 courtesy inspections conducted.
Projects Update
Hillside Drive Paving - La Paz County has completed the project.
Parker Pool Reconstruction.
This project has been cancelled. We are looking for other funds to continue this if possible. So far, nothing else has been found.
Business Development for the Town of Parker.
We are making plans to attend the RECON convention in Las Vegas again this year. We have meetings set up with several retailers. The economy while still in bad shape, shows signs that there may be some improvement beginning.
Task Force Building Request for Proposals.
The final design documents have been submitted by the design builder and are currently under review by our town engineer. The construction process will begin as soon as the plans are approved by our engineer.
CDBG Barrier Removal Project
The Request For Qualifications (RFQ) is now “out on the street” to procure an architect for this project. Bid date is established for June 2, 2009. We have had two packets picked up by prospective architects so far.
REDI Grant – New Website design for Town of Parker.
World Vision Internet Services completed work on the new website. We are currently populating it with information and editing content.
ADOT Traffic Enhancement (TE) Grant Project
Our Traffic Enhancement grant has been funded. Since this is a State project, ADOT will be doing all the project administration. This project is in the scoping process now.
Grant Applications.
We are planning on submitting another ADOT TE grant for Round 17 which has just been released last month. We are going to be working with PBS&J to put together an application for the other side of California Ave. very similar to last year’s application which was approved by ADOT.
American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) Projects
We are currently preparing several projects to make “shovel ready” so that when funding becomes available through the ARRA that we will be able to participate. These are:
o The Parker Cemetery Beatification Project – new fencing, landscaping etc.
o The Western Park Ballfields Project – construction of two new ballfields and associated equipment and lighting.
o The refunding of the Parker Pool Reconstruction Project.
o The Parker Annex Wastewater Treatment Facility – design and construction. |
