In the last week, members of the community visited the library 2315 times for computers, books, dvds, talking books, etc. Also in the last week, 5 volunteers worked a total of 61 hours. They donated almost $1200.00 worth of in-kind service to the community through the library. On Monday, we turned in a grant proposal to the State Library to develop an online information center for La Paz County residents and a La Paz County Wiki—an editable website all about La Paz County. Community partners on the proposal include the Senior Center, County Health Department, Career Center, Chamber of Commerce, Mexican Consulate, and others. Last Friday, the library sponsored a program at the Senior Center, Rocks and Minerals of Arizona. Sixty adults attended. We’ve had a series of children’s programs for school intersession. Tuesday, the Missoula Children’s Theater Company did face-painting with the kids—24 attended. Wednesday, Cooperative Extension did a program for kids on nutrition, including nutrition games—18 attended. Thursday, 14 kids played outdoor egg games. Last Monday, 133 people came to the library to get assistance from Social Security. |
